Christmas in Germany is a magical time of the year! The streets are full of lights, and you can smell the mulled wine and roasted nuts everywhere. Germans love Christmas, and their Christmas Markets are such a big part of it. They are super cosy and cute, with little wooden stands selling decorations, food, and drinks. It’s like stepping into a winter fairytale! Make sure you get enough cash and let’s see the Christmas Market options Bremen offers.

1. Findorffer Winterdorf

Findorffer Winterdorf is a cozy Christmas Market. This place is more for people who want to just sit down and chill with friends while avoiding big crowds of people. But it is important to take into consideration that Fridays are usually the busiest evenings with many people there. At this Christmas Market, there’s a photo booth that costs 4 euros (you can pay with a card or cash) that takes 3 photos and you get two copies of the photos. The booth is very small but it can surely fit two people.

Opening times

Usually, the Christmas Market is open from the beginning of November to mid-January.

Monday – Thursday 17:00 – 22:00

Friday 17:00 – 23:00

Saturday 16:00 – 23:00

Sunday 16:00 – 21:30

It’s located in Findorff, at the crossing of Hemmstraße and Fürther Straße.

Food and Drinks

At the Christmas market, the options are very limited since there are not too many booths. The prices vary between 3,50 and 7 euros. But you also pay a 1 euro deposit for the plate or mug, which you can return when you are finished eating/ drinking, that way getting the deposit back. From food, you can choose: Bratwurst, Currywurst, Handbrötchen, Crêpes, etc. From drinks, you can choose: Glühwein, Shots, Warm Cocktails, Kinderpunsch etc.

2. Weihnachtsmarkt

Weihnachtsmarkt is the biggest and the most important Christmas Market in Bremen. Here on a busy day, you can almost even get lost. On the weekends the amount of people in the Market is almost triple as on a regular weekday. This is a place to go if you’re not afraid of people and don’t have any type of social anxiety because the people are shoulder to shoulder.

Opening times

Usually, the Christmas Market is open from the end of November till the end of December.

Sunday – Thursday 11:00 – 20:30

Friday – Saturday 11:00 – 21:30

Location

It’s located in the Bremen city centre at Bremen Market Square.

Food and Drinks

At the Christmas Market, you can get many many different types of foods and drinks. The options are endless. Here the deposit for a mug is 3euro but the mugs are stunning and worth keeping, if you don’t want to keep it as a souvenir you can return it and get the 3euro back.

Carousels

It’s not only drinks and foods that you can find in this Christmas Market. There are also a few Carousels, great for people with kids.

Gifts

The Christmas market is also a great place where to buy Christmas gifts for friends and family because there are various souvenir shops with many different handmade stuff to choose from.

3. Schlachte-Zauber

Schlachte-Zauber is a Christmas market also in the city centre but right down by the river only a few minutes away from the big Weihnachtsmarkt. Different from other Christmas Markets this one goes in a straight line having booths on both sides and people walking in the middle. Here the crowdedness can feel much more because there are a lot of people and not too much space to move. This is not a great place to hang out for people with Claustrophobia or Social anxiety. There’s also a photo booth to capture the Christmas memory and save it forever. 2 copies of a stack of 3 photos cost 4 euros, and you can pay both with a card or cash.

Opening times

Usually, the Christmas Market is open from the end of November till the end of December.

Sunday – Thursday 11:00 – 20:30

Friday – Saturday 11:00 – 21:30

Location

Food and Drinks

At the Christmas Market, you can get different types of foods and drinks starting with Crêpes and ending with fries but there are a few other options in between. If you are cautious enough you can get drinks here as well, but be careful of spilling because the amount of people on the weekends is not safe for drinks.

Gifts

Along with the food here, you can buy very nice handmade things for yourself or as a gift for a loved one. It’s a nice place to go if you haven’t found the right gift for Christmas.

4. Lichter der Neustadt

Lichter der Neustadt is a cosy Christmas Market very close to the city centre.
