1. Dictionary German
This app and website are great for learning the German language, especially for students. You can’t translate full sentences, but you can find what part of speech your searched word belongs to, what its meaning is (with examples), and which article it has. It is the best German Dictionary that you can put in a pocket and take with you anywhere.
2. Innovative
I find this app better than Duolingo. It’s a similar idea but in my opinion better. What I love about this app is as an iPhone user I can add a widget to my home screen that shows me German word of the day. I find it very useful because I can learn German even when I don’t have the time or energy to sit down and invest a lot of time. This app also lets you choose your language level and gives you audio/video lessons at each level. With the premium version, you gain access to more personalised lessons, but the free version is perfectly sufficient on its own. This app is not great only for the German language but many more.
3. Reverso Context
This app and the website are useful for languages in general. It translates full sentences, giving you synonyms, definitions and conjugation, as well as example sentences. It also translates slang words and native expressions. I love that this app gives also you a word to discover which is similar to “word of the day” and gives you fun quizzes to master the language you’re learning. With this app, you can also prepare yourself for IELTS and TOEFL English exams.
4. Musixmatch
If you often translate song lyrics into your preferred language by searching for the translation on Google, then this app is perfect for you. I love this app because, with this app, you can connect to your Spotify or Apple Music account and immediately get synced lyrics with a translation in many languages. It has saved me so much time and is extremely convenient.
5. DeepL
This is THE translation app you need. It gives a much more precise translation than Google Translate. And with DeepL you can also take pictures, upload photos and documents, and record voice messages to translate. I also find it very useful that you can download this app on your computer and whenever you need to translate something pressing “Ctrl+C+C” will open the app immediately. I couldn’t recommend this app more. If I could recommend only one translation app then it would be this one.
